Week 1

Our program begins in Barcelona, Spain! Students arrive to Barcelona El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport (BCN) and will be transported to the IES student housing. Classes will be held at the IES Abroad Center, located in the heart of Barcelona, just off the Plaza Catalunya. 

NOTE: SPAN 241 will be held from 9:00am – 10:30am & FREN 242 will be held from 11:00am – 12:30pm.

• Monday June 1 – Students arrive to Barcelona. Get settled in the Residence Hall.   
• Tuesday June 2 – Orientation with IES team. Guided walking tour of Barcelona followed by a welcome lunch.
• Wednesday June 3 – Classes and afternoon site visit of the Sagrada Família, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
• Thursday June 4 – Classes
• Friday June 5 – Classes
• Saturday June 6   
• Sunday June 7   

Week 2

• Monday June 8 – Classes and guided afternoon site visit of Park Güell, 5:45pm – 8:00pm
• Tuesday June 9 – Classes
• Wednesday June 10 – Classes
• Thursday June 11 – Classes
• Friday June 12 – Joint class with SPAN/FREN students, followed by Lunch Paella Cooking Class
• Saturday June 13
• Sunday June 14 – Depart Barcelona and arrive to Arles. Rest and get settled in student housing. Prepare for week 3 and 4!

Week 3

This week we restart classes in Arles, France at the IES Abroad Arles Center.

• Monday June 15 – Classes and guided tour of Arles at 1:30pm (duration approximately 1 hour and a half)
• Tuesday June 16 – Classes
• Wednesday June 17 – Classes and afternoon « Paint in the Style of Van Gogh » cultural activity
• Thursday June 18 – Day trip to Marseille. Guided tour of the Vieux-Port and le Panier. Visit to the MUCEM.
• Friday June 19 – No classes, Juneteenth
• Saturday June 20  
• Sunday June 21

Week 4

• Monday June 22 – Classes
• Tuesday June 23 – Classes
• Wednesday June 24 – Classes and conclusion
• Thursday June 25 – One on one project consultations. Prepare for Final Project Presentations.
• Friday June 26 – FREN 242 and SPAN 241 Project Symposium. Farewell dinner with all students in the evening.  
• Saturday June 27 – Departure. Transportation to Marseille Provence Airport provided.
