
Week 1
Our program begins in Barcelona, Spain. Students arrive to Barcelona El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport (BCN) and will be transported to the IES student housing. Classes will be held at the IES Abroad Center, located in the heart of Barcelona, just off the Plaza Catalunya.
NOTE: SPAN 241 will be held from 8:30am – 10:30am & FREN 242 will be held from 11:00am – 1:00pm.
- Monday June 2 – Students arrive to Barcelona. Get settled in the Residence Hall.
- Tuesday June 3 – Orientation with IES team Meeting point and time: main hall at 9:30am. Guided walking tour of Barcelona followed by a welcome lunch.
- Wednesday June 4 – Classes and afternoon site visit of the Sagrada Família, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
- Thursday June 5 – Classes

Week 2
- Monday June 9 – Classes and guided afternoon site visit of Park Güell, 5:45pm – 8:00pm
- Tuesday June 10 – Classes
- Wednesday June 11 – Classes
- Thursday June 12 – Classes
- Friday June 13 – Guest lecture 9:30am – 11:30am with SPAN/FREN students and Lunch Paella Cooking Class
- Saturday June 14 – Trip to Perpignan. Afternoon city tour and guided visit of the Palace of the Kings of Majorca. (overnight stay)
- Sunday June 15 – Depart Perpignan and arrive to Arles. Rest and get settled in student housing. Prepare for week 3 and 4!
Week 3
This week we restart classes in Arles, France at the IES Abroad Arles Center.
- Monday June 16 – Classes in the morning and guided tour of Arles at 1:30pm (duration approximately 1 hour and a half)
- Tuesday June 17 – Classes and afternoon guided visit at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh
- Wednesday June 18 – Classes and afternoon « Paint in the Style of Van Gogh » cultural activity
- Thursday June 19 – No classes, Juneteenth
- Friday June 20 – Classes
- Saturday June 21 – Day trip to Marseille. Guided tour of the Vieux-Port and le Panier. Visit to the MUCEM.
- Sunday June 22
Week 4
- Monday June 23 – Classes
- Tuesday June 24 – Classes
- Wednesday June 25 – Guest lecture by Denis Beneich with SPAN/FREN students and conclusion
- Thursday June 26 – No classes. Prepare for Final Project Presentations.
- Friday June 27 – FREN 242 and SPAN 241 Project Symposium. Farewell dinner with all students in the evening.
- Saturday June 28 – Departure. Transportation to Marseille Provence Airport provided.
